Correction of abnormal aggressive behavior

1. Competitive aggressive behavior towards children

A dog that is usually docile and not aggressive towards people suddenly becomes unfriendly to the children of the owner’s family at a certain period of time, even barking and biting them, causing the children to be frightened and hurt. The reason for this is mainly due to the dog’s jealousy.

Correction of such behavior can not be used to punish the approach, but to care, reward approach to receive satisfactory results, otherwise, counterproductive.

Specific method is: when the child is not, the owner to cold dog, or even completely ignore it, when the child and the dog with the owner to show care for the dog, caress, and feed a piece of tasty food, repeated several times a day, the dog will gradually form the appearance of the child can also make it get the owner’s care, caress, so as to live in harmony with the child, no longer attack. Again, some children are not friendly to the dog, often beating, kicking it, is also a cause of dog attacks on children, which should guide them to get along with the dog friendly.

Toddlers should not stay alone with the dog to prevent accidents. If the dog is found to have attacked other children, it should be tightly restrained, such as tethered, until it is properly tempered. Dogs that cannot be corrected by training should be eliminated.

2. Territorial aggression

Dogs have the ability to look after the home, the owner of the family environment, the dog is considered as their own territory, for the strangers into the territory will take aggressive behavior, this is a normal phenomenon, but if this awareness is too strong, so that the owner’s relatives or friends can not approach the owner’s yard or residence, it should be corrected.

The correction should be rewarded and punished. When the visitor does not appear, the owner and members of the family should not give the dog care and affection; once the visitor appears, the owner should give the dog affection and food, and at the same time the visitor should treat the dog as kindly as the owner.

When the stranger starts to appear, the owner should let the dog sit quietly, and if the dog can not be quiet, then the dog should be scolded, hit and other punishments, so as to control the dog’s behavior under the owner’s voice and gestures. It is important to note that visitors should only give the dog caresses, such as gentle conversation and petting, not food, in order to prevent breaking the dog’s habit of refusing food from strangers.

The owner should not fight with the visitor in case the dog misunderstands that the owner is being attacked and stands up to the visitor.

3. Dominant Aggressive Behavior among Dogs

When there are two or more dogs in the family, sometimes there will be such a strange phenomenon: when the owner appears, the dogs will fight ferociously with each other, and after the owner leaves, they will be fine. The reason for this phenomenon is due to the owner’s improper way of treating them. Every dog wants to get more care and caress from the owner, and the dominant dog always strengthens its dominant position by threatening or attacking other dogs. If the owner doesn’t understand this psychological characteristic of the dog, he will fight for the other dogs and punish the dominant dog’s dominant behavior so that the other dogs will know that they can get the owner’s protection at this time, and so whenever the owner appears, they will try to take over the dogs by attacking them. they try to take over the dominance by attacking. When the owner is not present, they submit to the dominant dog.

The way to correct this is to reinforce the hierarchical relationship between dominance and submission among the dogs. The first step is to observe which dog is in the dominant position without being noticed by the dog, and then the owner should give the dominant dog all the respect and privileges when in contact with the pack. For example, the owner should give more attention to the dominant dog, let it go out first when taking it for a walk and always walk in front of it, etc. If other dogs are found to be disobedient, the owner should punish them, thus strengthening the hierarchical relationship of dominance and submission among dogs.

This reinforces the hierarchical relationship of dominance and obedience between dogs. Dogs accept the roles of dominance and obedience as an instinct, and this relationship must not be destroyed artificially. If the pack is found to be fighting in the absence of the owner, it means that this hierarchical relationship has not yet been established or is not defined, and the owner has to help the pack to establish this relationship.

Correction of destructive behavior

For small dogs, digging, gnawing or scratching objects is a normal behavior that will gradually disappear with age, but for adult dogs it is an abnormal behavior.

There are many reasons for this behavior, mainly related to the emotional state of the dog, for example, when alone, lonely, worry and the surrounding environment has a large noise, etc., can cause this transient abnormal behavior. Some dogs may be a kind of fetish, regardless of time, occasions may appear destructive behavior. There may be various ways of displaying the behavior, such as some dogs may only display the behavior towards a certain kind of object or in a certain place, while others may not have any fixed target.

Corrective methods should be applied to the disease, first to determine the place and object of destructive behavior, and then take different ways according to different situations. Such as for the dog often destroy items, to remove, placed in a place where the dog can not reach, or in the items placed next to an upside down mousetrap, when the dog chewed, the mousetrap bounced and will be scared away from the dog, many times later, the dog will not dare to chew the items. For those who do not have a fixed target of destruction of the dog, in addition to the aforementioned methods, but also to take the necessary means of punishment.

Correction of heterophilia

Xenophilia refers to the conscious intake of non-food substances, such as stones, rubber, feces, etc.. Dogs with this behavior are not only extremely unhygienic, but may also have gastrointestinal problems caused by these foreign substances. The cause of this behavior is not very clear, sometimes it may be the body lacks a certain substance, such as vitamins, inorganic salts and so on.

Correction: heterophilic behavior caused by a lack of nutrients can be corrected by supplementing nutrients. For the unexplained heterophilia, we should find out the reasons and rules through careful observation and analysis, such as the types of items that are preferred to be eaten differently and under what circumstances, etc., and take appropriate measures to correct them in a targeted manner. If it is a nutritional heterophilia, the first thing to do is to replenish the missing nutrients, and non-nutritional heterophilia can be corrected by means of punishment.

Direct punishment method is to take the heterophile to the front of the dog, when the dog ingests food, it is loud reprimand and hit, and will be taken away, and then move the heterophile to the front of the dog, such as wanting to eat again, and then punished until the dog is no longer ingesting food. Some dogs are deterred by the owner’s punishment, the owner is afraid to ingest, the owner may not be back in the absence of the original state, this time to use indirect punishment, that is, in the heterophile coated with chili powder and other irritating and harmless items to the dog, the dog ingested, it will feel the pungent and uncomfortable, and do not dare to eat again. Can also be corrected with a squirt gun, that is, the owner to take a few water-filled squirt gun, hidden in a hidden place, found that the dog wants to ingest xenophilic substances, that is, to the dog squirt, so that the dog was frightened and fled, so that repeated a few times later, the dog will overcome the xenophilia.

However, care should be taken not to let the water spraying action be seen by the dog and associated with the owner’s punishment, and the dog should be made to think that it is caused by its feeding behavior. For other abnormal behaviors, the dog owner can correct them according to the above principles and methods.
