Do’s and Don’ts for First Time Puppy Owners

/

When you are a first-time puppy owner, remember not to treat a puppy that is a few months old as if it were an adult dog. Treat it as you would a newborn baby; you must be tolerant enough to be gentle and take care of it from time to time. How you start treating your puppy is very important for its future social life.

First of all don’t bring your new puppy home if you are going away on vacation for a short period of time, as you need to spend enough time with it and you need to make its life part of your daily routine. Once the puppy arrives home, it is important that you keep an eye on it and communicate with it often.

Secondly, pay attention to the signs that he needs to go to the toilet, such as whimpering and whirling, so you must take him to the place where he should go to defecate right away. Younger puppies have a hard time controlling their bladders and may need to pee immediately after eating, sleeping and playing. He may also need to go to the bathroom at least every three hours at night.

Don’t punish your puppy if he accidentally soils the area. Remember not to push his nose into the dirt and scold him. He won’t understand and will probably poop wherever he wants when you are not around. Praise your puppy whenever he goes outside to poop.

Then, feed your puppy with food that is specially formulated for puppies.

Like a baby, it needs food that is nutritious and easy to digest.
