Means and principles of dog training

/

In the training of the dog, must take the correct training means, adhere to certain training principles, in order to ensure that the dog in a short period of time to quickly develop good, stable habits and master a variety of training skills. Training means: including induction, coercion, prohibition and reward.

Inducement, refers to the owner to use the dog’s favorite food and objects to induce the dog to make some kind of action, or use the dog’s spontaneous action, through the use of a combination of command and gesture, in order to establish a conditioned reflex or enhance the training effect of a means.

Forcing is a means by which the owner uses mechanical stimuli and threatening tone commands to force the dog to accurately make the corresponding movements.

Forcing is mainly used in the initial training, in order to strengthen the formation of its conditioned reflexes. Under the influence of external triggers, the dog can not successfully follow the command, gesture action, can also be used to force the means. This method must be combined with rewards, that is, whenever the dog is forced to make the correct action, must be given adequate rewards.

Prohibition is a means used by the owner to stop undesirable behavior. Prohibition, in essence, is a kind of punishment for the dog and can only be used when bad behavior occurs in the dog, and when the dog delays the execution of the command, only coercion can be used, not the prohibition method.

In the use of prohibited means, the attitude should be serious, the tone of voice should be firm, but not physical punishment of the dog. Stop in time, only when the dog has a forbidden desire behavior or forbidden in the early stage, stop is effective. Prohibit after the fact, not only useless, but will make the dog nerve confusion, do not know what to do. After the dog stops offending, it should be rewarded immediately to ease the dog’s nervousness.

Reward, in order to strengthen the correct action of the dog, consolidate the dog has developed behavior, adjust the dog’s nervous state and take a means. Reward methods include feeding food, petting, swimming and calling “good” verbal praise.

Reward in dog training is extremely important, but to use the right way, otherwise, can not receive good results. In the training of dogs, must follow the “step by step, from simple to complex, according to the dog, treat separately” principle.

Training dogs to do a complete action, not all at once can be completed, must be progressive, from simple to complex training, by a variety of single conditioned reflex combination into a power stereotype.

For example, in the “articulation” action, it includes a series of conditioned reflexes such as “sit on the left side, go, articulation, come” to form a fixed power stereotype. As long as the dog hears the command, it will complete this series of actions.

Due to the different neurological types, character traits and training purposes of various dogs, so, in training, should be tailored to suit the dog, treated separately, otherwise, the best training methods are ineffective.

For example: a strong reaction to food dogs, can be more food stimulation; ferocious and aggressive dogs, to strict requirements, to strengthen its obedience and attachment training; for timid dogs, to use a gentle tone of voice modulation, light action close, and patience and inducement. In short, to train for the characteristics of the dog.
