Intensive Dog Walking 8’s Exercise

/

The Walking 8s exercise is designed to reinforce the dog’s ability to move forward in the correct position at the owner’s pace.

Is your dog in the correct position when commanded to “Walk”? If it deviates, guide it back to the correct position immediately.

There is no need to reprimand him. Walk forward a little and give the “go” command to get the dog back in the right place. If that doesn’t work, pull him over on the leash.

When practicing the figure eight, train the dog to stay on the owner’s left side when turning left or right.

Pay attention to the timing of correcting the dog’s mistakes and the method of giving commands. Be patient. Also, is the leash too tight? Are waiting for the dog and matching his steps when turning.

Was the training enjoyable? Is the dog being talked to? All of these questions need to be emphasized during the training process.
