Shock and exhaustion

//

When a dog goes into shock and failure, rapid implementation of appropriate actions can save the dog’s life, and the causes of failure are:

  • Seizures.
  • Acute infections.
  • Heart disease.
  • Poisoning.
  • Diabetes.
  • Heat stroke.
  • Car accidents.
  • Bleeding.

Management of exhaustion:

Management of Shock – Shock is characterized by lowered blood pressure, rapid and weak heartbeat and respiration, and pale, clammy skin. Shocked dogs need to be kept quiet and warm by placing them on a hot pad wrapped in a bath towel.

Check breathing: If breathing is weak, irregular or stops, immediately:

  1. Undo the collar.
  2. Excavate the mouth.
  3. Remove saliva, blood, vomit or any foreign objects from the mouth.
  4. Perform mouth breathing.

Check pulse:

If a pulse cannot be detected, check for a heartbeat directly on the left side of the chest near the back of the elbow. If there is no heartbeat, do a “heart massage”. ”Heart Massage”: Squeeze the heart on the left side of the chest, behind the elbow, once a second. (If the heart stops beating for more than 5 minutes, it will cause irreversible brain damage.) After the heartbeat is restored, perform artificial respiration.

  1. Treatment of bleeding: Stop major bleeding immediately.
  2. Brace and immobilize the fracture.
  3. Notify the veterinarian.
