Sit training

/

Purpose Requirements

The Sit is an integral part of the training program that develops the dog’s ability to fetch, identify, and so on. The training of this course not only requires the dog to be able to sit quickly and correctly on command, but also to link this course with related courses, to sit automatically and to maintain the persistence of this action. A correct sit should be performed with the front limbs vertical, the hind limbs bent, below the joints on the ground, and the tail flat on the ground.

Training Steps and Methods

This lesson is divided into three stages of training, which can be combined with the following, wandering, and coming to the lesson.

The first phase establishes the conditioned reflex to the command and gesture.

The method of training the dog to sit frontally is:

The trainer holds the leash with his left hand, guides the dog to the opposite side of himself, makes a gesture with his right hand, then issues a command, and at the same time lifts the leash with his left hand, forcing the dog to sit down, and when the dog sits down, he immediately rewards the dog, and after repeated training, the dog can form a conditioned reflex to the command to sit on the front side.

The second stage is to train the dog to sit and wait for delayed persistence.

The third stage of environmental conditions complicate the exercise

When the dog in the quiet environment can successfully obey the command to make movements, you can make the training environment gradually complex, in order to exercise the dog to enhance the ability to resist interference. In the case of complex environmental conditions, the dog’s movements are susceptible to the influence of external factors. Therefore, it is necessary to appropriately use the means of coercion, so that the dog gradually adapted.

Problems in training

(A) Pressing the waist angle part should be accurate in order to achieve the training effect.

(B) Correcting the dog’s automatic release delay should be timely, preferably when the dog wants to move and not completely destroyed. At the same time, the amount of stimulation should be appropriately strong.

(C) For dogs with high excitability, be patient when cultivating the sitting and waiting delay, don’t ask for too much each time, and don’t raise the magnitude too much.
